Sorry for the crappy picture, but seriously, why the hell did these not exist when I was a kid? I would have spent untold hours here.

Now that they are here my son ignores them, and would rather play with the g27. He was 3 when this started happening And 4 now.

There was one at our local park in the 80s (no jeep grill). Ours had a spoked metal wheel and we’d spin it as fast as possible then try to stop the wheel by grabbing a spoke. Lots of bruises and sprained fingers haha.

I remember the spoked metal wheel that we would spin as fast as we could (I’m also a child of the 80’s), but it didn’t have a shifter. The shifter is makes it extra awesome.

Ours had the shifter and a plexiglass window with a sliding lever that moved two top mounted wipers (really just bars that swung back and forth, didn’t actually wipe.) The wipers and shifter would always bind or break a couple weeks after the maintenance guy came through though.

I actually swung back by that park a few years ago and it’s a pathetic shell of its 80s version. Used to have a 3 story tall wood structure with rope bridges and fire poles. Always swarming with kids. Now it’s some tiny little plastic thing with maybe one or two kids around. Apparently the safety ninnies got to it.

That’s too bad :(

Some of the new stuff is actually pretty good. Now that I’ve got a 2 year old, we’re spending lots of time at parks.
